Resting Metabolic Rate Testing (RMR)

What is RMR testing?

Feel like you’ve been plagued with a slow metabolism? Not sure what your metabolism is? Your metabolism is a measure of how many calories your body burns every day. By testing your unique metabolic rate, we can help you understand why you have had difficulty losing weight in the past and how you can be successful in the future.* Your Resting Metabolic Rate is how many calories your body burns in a 24-hour period at rest. Based on this rate, we calculate the number of calories that you burn while performing your normal daily activities. Using these two numbers, we determine your caloric intake zones for weight loss and maintenance.

Why should I take this test?

There is a lot of misinformation about metabolism and caloric intake available in today’s world. People often assume that they have a slow metabolism, and that this is the reason that they are gaining weight. People who are dieting also tend to cut too many calories out of their daily intake in a mistaken effort to speed along their weight loss, which can then cause the opposite effect. Knowing your own specific metabolism allows you to make smart and informed decisions concerning your caloric intake.*

What can I expect when taking the RMR Test?

Determining your resting metabolic rate is as easy as breathing into a tube for fifteen minutes. We will measure your height and weight, then you will take a seat in our comfortable massage chair to begin the test. With noseplugs on to ensure that all your air goes into the machine, you will breathe in and out of a newly-opened disposable tube for fifteen minutes. That’s it! After your test, a Rawmana Fitness San Diego professional will go over your results with you, ensuring that there is no confusion about how many calories you should be taking in every day to achieve your goals.*

What should I do with the test results?

Your metabolic rate will be used to calculate your target caloric zones. Knowing your personal caloric needs, all the talk about ‘cutting calories’ and ‘burning fat’ will finally make sense as it applies to you.* Whether you need to be eating less or whether you should be eating more, this knowledge can save months of needless suffering. RMR testing can help you calculate exactly how to tip the scales in your favor!*
